Shanghai Darts Rules: How to Play Shanghai

A game of accuracy across the board. Each round has a target number, and a Shanghai (single, double and treble in one visit) wins instantly.

Players: 2 or more  ·  Equipment: a standard dartboard and three darts each

Objective

Score the most points. Round 1 targets the 1s, round 2 the 2s, and so on.

Scoring

Only hits on the round's number count. Singles score face value, doubles twice and trebles three times.

Hitting any other number scores nothing.

Shanghai: instant win

Hit a single, a double and a treble of the target number in one visit, in any order, and you win immediately, whatever the scores.

Winning on points

If nobody hits a Shanghai, the highest total after the final round wins.

Variations

Play rounds 1 to 7 for a quick game, 1 to 20 for a full game, or start from a higher number like 15 to practise the top of the board.
